Report on the Workshop on SQL and Relational Database
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, in association with Ethnotech, organized a five-day workshop on SQL and Relational Databases from November 17 to November 22, 2025, for third-semester students. The sessions were conducted by Mr. Afree from Ethnotech, who delivered hands-on training that effectively integrated theoretical concepts with practical implementation.
During the workshop, students were introduced to key topics such as the introduction to relational databases, getting started with SQL, filtering and sorting data, advanced data retrieval, working with aggregate functions, joining tables, subqueries and nested queries, data manipulation using SQL, database design and normalization, indexes, views and stored procedures, as well as transactions and error handling.
The objective of the workshop was to equip participants with a foundational understanding of SQL and relational database concepts, including querying techniques, data manipulation, and basic database design principles. The course outcome enabled students to design a relational database for a small business or application, encompassing schema design, data population, and the development of SQL queries demonstrating the various functionalities learned during the workshop.
