On April 08, 2026, the IEEE Student Branch SIT, in association with the Institute Innovation Cell (IIC), Srinivas Institute of Technology organized an expert talk titled “Your Innovation Journey Begins with IEEE.”

The session was delivered by Dr. Mohit P. Tahiliani, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, NITK Surathkal, for the students of SIT. The talk aimed to create awareness among students about IEEE, its significance, and the opportunities it provides for academic and professional growth.

Dr. Mohit P. Tahiliani provided an insightful introduction to IEEE, explaining its role as a global professional organization that supports innovation, research, and technological advancement. He elaborated on the importance of joining IEEE as a student member and highlighted the various benefits, including access to technical resources, research publications, conferences, workshops, and networking opportunities with professionals across the world.

The speaker emphasized how IEEE helps students enhance their technical knowledge, leadership skills, and overall personality development. He encouraged students to actively participate in IEEE activities such as technical events, competitions, and collaborative projects, which help in gaining practical exposure and industry-relevant skills. He also discussed the role of IEEE student branches in fostering innovation, teamwork, and continuous learning among students.

The session motivated students to take initiative in exploring IEEE platforms to build their professional profiles and stay updated with emerging technologies. The interactive segment allowed students to clarify their queries regarding membership, benefits, and participation in IEEE activities.

The program received strong support from Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D, Principal, and Prof. Sudarshan K, Head of the Department, ISE & CSD and IEEE Branch Counselor, whose guidance ensured the successful conduct of the event. The program was coordinated by Prof. Sahana B and Prof. Aparna N, Staff Coordinators, along with Prof. Archana D and Prof. Sowmya, Staff Advisors.
