Srinivas Institute of Technology organized a seven day AI research bootcamp titled “GENAIVATION 2026: Innovation to Publication” from February 2 to February 10, 2026, in association with DHAARINI, An AI-Tech Research Academy. The program was jointly conducted by the Department of Information Science & Engineering (ISE), Department of Computer Science & Design (CSD), and Department of Artificial Intelligence & Data Science (AI-DS).

The sessions were conducted by Mr. Prashanth Kannadaguli, Trainer, at the ETNOTECH Lab. The bootcamp aimed to strengthen students’ understanding of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Data Science through both theoretical concepts and practical implementation.

The program began with foundational topics including AI, ML, DL, machine learning processes, types of data, and training validation testing methods. Students learned about model evaluation techniques such as k-fold cross validation, underfitting, overfitting, and key performance metrics including accuracy, precision, recall, regression metrics, and log loss.

Core algorithms such as Linear Regression, Logistic Regression, Decision Trees, Lasso Regression, KNN, SVM, and various ensemble learning methods were covered. Practical sessions included data merging, synthetic data generation, visualization using Matplotlib, hierarchical clustering, PCA, dimensionality reduction, and matrix decomposition. AI prompting techniques such as chain-of-thought and tree-of-thought approaches were also introduced.

The program received strong support from Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D, Principal of Srinivas Institute of Technology. The guidance of Prof. Sudarshan K, Head of the Department, ISE & CSD, and Prof. Nagaraja Hebbar, Head of the Department, AI-DS, played an important role in the smooth conduct of the program. The event was also supported by Dr. Praveen Shenoy, IIC Coordinator, and Prof. Rakesh Mallya. Additional support was provided by Prof. Archana D, ACODE Advisor, Prof. Ajay Pinto, AADE Advisor, and Prof. Sowmya, AISE Advisor. The program was successfully coordinated by Prof. Aparna N, Prof. Sahana B, and Prof. Ganapathi Sharma.

Overall, the bootcamp was informative and practical, equipping students with strong foundational and applied knowledge in AI and Machine Learning.
