The Department of Marine Engineering at Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru, in

association with the Industry–Institute Interaction Cell and AIMES, organized an industrial

visit to Deccan Plast Industries, Konaje, Mangalore, on 19th December 2025. The visit was

conducted under the guidance of Principal Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D and Head of the

Department Dr. Lokesh V, with coordination by Prof. Nithin Joshuva and Prof. Sathisha K G.

During the visit, students were introduced to the industrial manufacturing environment of

Deccan Plast Industries. The officials of the industry explained different types of moulds

used in plastic manufacturing and demonstrated the extrusion process through live

operations, enabling students to clearly understand the conversion of raw plastic materials

into finished products. Students also explored various machines used for plastic processing,

such as moulding and extrusion units, along with material handling and quality control

practices. The manufactured plastic products, commonly used in home and office

applications, were showcased and their production methods were explained in detail.

Overall, the industrial visit provided valuable practical exposure to modern manufacturing

techniques, machinery, and industrial workflows, helping students bridge the gap between

theoretical knowledge and real-time industrial practices.
