The Department of Marine Engineering, in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), Srinivas Institute of Technology (SIT), Mangaluru, organized a student competition titled “Showcase AI: Mini Project Presentations” on 9th January 2026. The Event was conducted to encourage innovation and the practical application of Artificial Intelligence concepts among students. The program was coordinated by Prof. Sunil Prakash R, while Dr. Lokesh V, Head of the Department of Marine Engineering, graced the event with his presence and motivated the participants throughout the session. The event was held under the guidance of Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D, Principal, Srinivas Institute of Technology.

During the session, student batches presented and explained their mini project work, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills, teamwork, and technical creativity. The competition provided an effective platform for students to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world engineering and AI-based challenges.

The projects showcased included Simulation of the Bilge System of a Ship’s Main Engine, Open-Source Web-Based Ship Blackout Recovery Simulator, and Track Hub: Smart Campus Monitoring and Information Engine. Each team clearly presented the objectives, system design, methodology, and potential real-world applications of their projects, highlighting the role of AI in improving efficiency, safety, and decision-making.
