Day 4 of the AI research bootcamp titled GENAIVATION 2026: Innovation to Publication
On February 5, 2026, Srinivas Institute of Technology conducted Day 4 of the AI research bootcamp titled “GENAIVATION 2026: Innovation to Publication.” The program was organized in association with DHAARINI an AI-Tech Research Academy, with the joint effort of the ISE, CSD, and AI-DS departments.
Day 4 of the AI research bootcamp focused exclusively on machine learning algorithms used for classification and regression. The session was conducted by Mr. Prashanth Kannadaguli, Trainer, with the aim of strengthening students’ understanding of core algorithms used in real-world applications. The session began with Logistic Regression for classification, where the trainer explained how it is used to predict categorical outcomes. Concepts such as probability-based decision making and the role of the log loss function in measuring classification performance were discussed using simple examples.
The trainer then introduced the Decision Tree algorithm, explaining how decision trees work by splitting data based on conditions. Special emphasis was given to Decision Tree Classification, helping students understand how data is divided into classes through a tree-like structure.
The session also covered Lasso Regression, where the trainer explained how this technique helps in reducing model complexity and improving performance by selecting important features.
Throughout the session, the focus remained on understanding the working principles of algorithms, rather than tools or coding. Clear explanations helped students understand when and why each algorithm is used.
The program received strong support from Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D, Principal of Srinivas Institute of Technology. The guidance of Prof. Sudarshan K, Head of the Department, ISE & CSD, and Prof. Nagaraja Hebbar, Head of the Department, AI-DS, played an important role in the smooth conduct of the program. The event was also supported by Dr. Praveen Shenoy, IIC Coordinator, and Prof. Rakesh Mallya. Additional support was provided by Prof. Archana D, ACODE Advisor, Prof. Ajay Pinto, AADE Advisor, and Prof. Sowmya, AISE Advisor. The program was successfully coordinated by Prof. Aparna N, Prof. Sahana B, and Prof. Ganapathi Sharma.
Overall, Day 4 was informative and helped students build a strong understanding of important machine learning algorithms.
