GENAIVATION 2026: Innovation to Publication An AI Research Bootcamp
On February 2, 2026, Srinivas Institute of Technology began Day 1 of the AI research bootcamp titled “GENAIVATION 2026: Innovation to Publication.” The program was organized in associ-ation with DHAARINI an AI-Tech Research Academy, with the joint effort of the ISE, CSD, and AI-DS departments.
The session was conducted by Mr. Prashanth Kannadaguli, Trainer, at the ETNOTECH Lab. The main objective of Day 1 was to give students a clear understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its related concepts, including Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL).
The session began with an introduction to Artificial Intelligence and an explanation of what ma-chine learning actually is. The trainer discussed the components of machine learning and ex-plained the machine learning process, including data collection, data preparation, training, valida-tion, and testing. Students were also introduced to the concept of training–validation–testing and its importance in building reliable models.
The difference between classical programming and machine learning was explained, helping students understand how machine learning systems learn from data instead of fixed rules. The rela-tionship between AI, ML, and DL was also clearly explained.
The session covered a brief data analytics summary, types of machine learning, and types of da-ta. Important topics such as class imbalance were discussed to help students understand real-world data challenges. Overall, the session provided a strong foundation in AI and machine learning concepts.
The program received strong support from Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D, Principal of Srinivas Institute of Technology. The guidance and encouragement of Prof. Sudarshan K, Head of the Department, ISE & CSD, and Prof. Nagaraja Hebbar, Head of the Department, AI-DS, played an important role in the smooth conduct of the program.
The event was also supported by Dr. Praveen Shenoy, IIC Coordinator, and Prof. Rakesh Mallya, whose valuable support and involvement contributed to the successful execution of the program.
