The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangalore, under the banner of the All Students Mechanical Association (ASMA), in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), EDP Cell, III Cell, Yukti Cell, and the Incubation & Start-up Cell, organized a Student Startup Idea Competition exclusively for the final year Mechanical Engineering students on 30th August 2025.

The primary objective of the event was to encourage students to think innovatively and develop an entrepreneurial mindset by proposing feasible startup ideas. The competition provided a platform for students to showcase their creativity, problem-solving skills, and ability to design practical business solutions with potential for real-world implementation.

Students presented a wide range of innovative ideas related to mechanical engineering, sustainable technologies, renewable energy, product design, and manufacturing solutions. Each student delivered a structured presentation covering the problem statement, proposed solution, market feasibility, business model, and potential impact of their startup idea.

The competition was evaluated by a panel of judges comprising faculty members, who assessed the projects based on criteria such as innovation, technical feasibility, commercial viability, societal relevance, and presentation skills.

In his concluding remarks, the Head of the Department Dr. Shankar K S, congratulated the participants and emphasized the importance of innovation and entrepreneurship in shaping the future of engineering. He also highlighted how such initiatives align with national objectives like “Make in India” and “Startup India”, motivating students to transform their ideas into successful ventures.

The event was organized by Dr. Raghavendra M. J. (IA–IIC) and was graced by Prof. Sandesh K. S. (Faculty Coordinator, ASMA), Prof. Sathyaprakash A.
