Talk on Valmiki Jayanti and Brain Quest
On October 7, 2025, the Departments of Information Science and Engineering (ISE) and Computer Science and Design (CSD) jointly organized a program in observance of Valmiki Jayanti under the banner of the National Service Scheme (NSS). The event aimed to pay tribute to Maharshi Valmiki, the revered sage and author of the epic Ramayana, while inspiring students to reflect upon his life, transformation, and timeless teachings.
The program began with insightful speeches delivered by students Praneesh, Deeksha Shetty, and Vaishnavi of the 7th semester ISE and CSD. Their talks focused on the remarkable transformation of Valmiki from a forest dweller named Ratnakara to the enlightened sage known as Adikavi (the First Poet). The speakers highlighted how his journey from ignorance to enlightenment symbolizes the power of self-realization and moral awakening. They also emphasized his immense contribution to Indian literature through the composition of the Ramayana, which continues to guide humanity with its profound lessons on virtue, devotion, and righteousness. The speeches inspired the audience to adopt values of compassion, truth, and perseverance in their own lives.
Following the speeches, a quiz competition was conducted by students Spoorthi, Priyanka P, Raksha Shetty, and Ujwal Abhishek. The quiz was centered around the life, teachings, and literary works of Maharshi Valmiki, testing participants’ understanding of his legacy and contributions to Indian culture. Students from both the 3rd and 7th semesters of ISE and CSD participated actively, displaying enthusiasm and a deep appreciation for India’s spiritual and literary heritage.
The event received valuable support from Prof. Sudarshan K, Head of the Departments of ISE and CSD, and Mr. Rakesh Mallya, College NSS Coordinator. The program was organized under the guidance of Prof. Prajwal K. S, Department NSS Coordinator, whose leadership ensured its smooth and successful execution.
Through this initiative, students not only celebrated the birth anniversary of Maharshi Valmiki but also embraced his message of transformation, learning, and righteousness. The program served as an inspiring platform that blended cultural reverence with educational engagement, making the occasion both enlightening and memorable.
