From Knowing to Preventing: Empowering the Fight Against Cancer

The Department of Information Science and Engineering, in association with the Women Cell of Srinivas Institute of Technology, Valachil, organized an impactful awareness program titled “From Knowing to Preventing: Empowering the Fight Against Cancer” on 27th November 2025

The session was conducted by Ms. Jyoti Patil Shah, Chief Executive Officer, V Care Foundation, who delivered an inspiring and informative talk on cancer awareness, early detection, and preventive health practices. Through real-life stories, visuals, and meaningful interactions, she emphasized the importance of transitioning “From Chaos to Control” when dealing with cancer. Her talk highlighted lifestyle choices, mental well-being, and the significance of timely screening, empowering students with practical knowledge to safeguard their health.

The program witnessed active participation from various departments, with students engaging enthusiastically throughout the session. The audience listened with great attentiveness, and many students took part in discussions, making the session both educational and impactful.

The event was coordinated by Ms. Aparna N and Ms. Sahana B, Faculty Coordinators, Department of ISE. Their efforts were supported by Dr. Veena Santhosh Rai, Women Cell Coordinator, and Prof. Sudarshan K, Head of the Department, ISE. The program was organized under the guidance and encouragement of Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D, Principal, Srinivas Institute of Technology.

Overall, the awareness program served as a valuable initiative in educating students about cancer prevention and fostering a sense of responsibility toward personal and community well-being. The session successfully achieved its objective of empowering young minds with knowledge that can contribute to building a healthier society.
