The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Srinivas Institute of Technology, in association with STEADY and the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), organized a live telecast session of SEMICON India 2026 on 18th September 2026. The live telecast focused on developing an integrated semiconductor ecosystem and transitioning from policy initiatives to implementation, manufacturing, R&D, and technology partnerships.

The discussions covered semiconductor manufacturing, advanced packaging, chip design, equipment and materials, supply-chain resilience, artificial intelligence, power electronics, indigenous R&D and talent development. Particular emphasis was placed on the need for India to develop capabilities across the complete semiconductor value chain rather than focusing only on fabrication.

Students were introduced to the broader objectives of Semicon 2.0, including strengthening semiconductor design, machines and materials, fabrication facilities, ATMP/OSAT capabilities, research and development, and semiconductor talent. The discussions highlighted the importance of building domestic intellectual property, developing skilled manpower, and strengthening industry–academia collaboration. Advanced packaging and heterogeneous integration were also important areas of discussion.

The sessions encouraged students to look beyond conventional electronics applications and explore emerging areas such as AI hardware, semiconductor design, advanced packaging, chiplets, power electronics, high-performance computing and semiconductor manufacturing.

The Programme helped bridge the gap between academic learning and current industrial practices by exposing students to contemporary semiconductor technologies, industry requirements, international collaborations and emerging opportunities in India.
