Five-Day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Microsoft Power BI

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, in association with the Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) and ICT Academy, inaugurated a Five-Day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Microsoft Power BI at the Seminar Hall of Srinivas Institute of Technology (SIT), Mangalore, on 20 July 2026.

The FDP, scheduled from 20 July to 24 July 2026, aims to enhance the analytical and data visualization skills of faculty members by providing hands-on training in Microsoft Power BI, one of the world's leading Business Intelligence (BI) and data analytics platforms. The program is designed to help educators integrate modern data analytics tools into teaching, research, and institutional decision-making.

The inaugural function commenced at 10:00 AM under the presidency of Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D., Principal, Srinivas Institute of Technology. In his inaugural address, he emphasized the growing significance of data-driven technologies in higher education and encouraged faculty members to continuously upgrade their technical competencies to meet the demands of Industry 4.0 and digital transformation.

The programme was graced by Mr. Vignesh Shetty, ICT Academy, as the Guest, who highlighted the importance of industry-academia collaboration in equipping educators with emerging digital skills.

The technical sessions are being conducted by Ms. Varalaxmi, Technical Trainer (Artificial Intelligence and Data Science – Training & Development), ICT Academy. Throughout the five-day programme, participants will gain practical exposure to data modeling, data transformation, dashboard creation, report generation, interactive visualizations, DAX functions, and real-time business intelligence applications using Microsoft Power BI.

The programme is jointly organized by the Departments of Aeronautical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and the Placement Department. The Heads of the participating departments extended their support to the initiative and encouraged faculty members to actively participate in the sessions.

The event is coordinated by Prof. Sathya Prakash Anekallu, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, and Prof. Vivek V. Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Marine Engineering.
