Choose Life, Not Smoke: Combating Tobacco Dependence
Health Awareness Program – World No Tobacco Day
The Anti Drug Committee and NSS of Srinivas Institute of Technology in association with Father Muller College of Nursing organized a Health Awareness Program on the theme *“Choose Life, Not Smoke: Combating Tobacco Dependence”* in observance of World No Tobacco Day on 26 May 2026 at Srinivas Institute of Technology, Valachil from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
The program was conducted to create awareness among students about the harmful effects of tobacco consumption and to encourage a healthy and tobacco-free lifestyle. The event witnessed active participation from students and faculty members.
The dignitaries present during the program included *P. Rakesh Mallya, NSS Coordinator, **Dr. Ananth Kumar Kulkarni, HOD of the Mathematics Department, **Dr. Lokesh, HOD of the Marine Department, and **Sister Dhanya, Principal of Father Muller Nursing College*.
Students of Father Muller College of Nursing actively participated in the event and presented an informative skit highlighting the serious consequences of tobacco usage and addiction. Their performance effectively conveyed the health risks and social impact caused by tobacco consumption. In addition to the skit, a dance program and interactive games were organized, making the awareness session both educational and engaging.
Students of Srinivas Institute of Technology attended the event as the audience and enthusiastically participated in the activities conducted during the program. The event successfully spread awareness about the importance of avoiding tobacco and promoting a healthier lifestyle among youth.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks, appreciating the efforts of the organizers, participants, and guests for making the event meaningful and successful.
