The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Srinivas Institute of Technology, in association with the AWS Student Builder Group SIT, successfully organized a technical session titled “Cloud Shield: IT Security Fundamentals” on 16th May 2026 at Room No. 102. The session aimed to create awareness among students about Information Security, Cyber Security, and the importance of protecting digital systems in today’s technology-driven world. The session was conducted by Mr. Abubakkar Fazil, IT & System Lead of AWS SBG SIT, under the guidance of Dr. Suresha D (HOD-CSE) along with faculty coordinators Prof. Alwyn Edison Mendonca and Prof. Dikshith M B. During the session, students were introduced to the fundamentals of Information Security, including the concepts of confidentiality, integrity, and availability (CIA Triad). The speaker explained the difference between Information Security and Cyber Security and highlighted the role of people, processes, and technology in maintaining secure systems. Real-world examples related to online banking, cyber threats, and data protection helped students understand the practical importance of cybersecurity practices. The session was interactive and beginner-friendly, enabling students to gain valuable knowledge about securing digital information and cloud-based systems. Participants developed a better understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals and were encouraged to explore advanced domains in cloud and IT security. Overall, the event was informative and beneficial for students, successfully enhancing awareness about Information Security and its real-world applications. The AWS Student Builder Group SIT effectively conducted the session and contributed to strengthening students’ foundational knowledge in IT Security and cybersecurity awareness.
