On May 16, 2026, the Institute Innovation Cell (IIC) and the Entrepreneurship Development Program (EDP) Cell, in association with the Department of Information Science and Engineering (ISE) and the Department of Computer Science and Design (CSD), organised an expert talk titled “StartWise: A Session on Start-up Legal & Ethical Steps.”
The session was delivered by Mr. Aditya Madhukar Bhat, Director, Swizosoft (OPC) Private Limited, for the students of the ISE and CSD departments. The speaker shared valuable insights on the importance of following proper legal procedures and ethical business practices while starting and managing a business venture.
Mr. Aditya Madhukar Bhat began the session by explaining the significance of legal compliance in entrepreneurship. He stated that many start-ups focus only on product development and marketing while ignoring important legal and ethical aspects, which may later create serious business challenges. He emphasised that a strong legal foundation helps start-ups build trust, avoid risks, and maintain long-term sustainability.
The speaker discussed various legal requirements involved in establishing a start-up, including company registration, business licenses, intellectual property rights, taxation, agreements, and compliance with government regulations. He advised students to properly document their ideas, agreements, and partnerships to avoid future conflicts.
While discussing ethics in entrepreneurship, Mr. Aditya Madhukar Bhat highlighted the importance of honesty, transparency, fairness, and responsibility in business operations. He explained that ethical practices help build customer trust, employee satisfaction, and a positive reputation in the market. He also spoke about ethical concerns related to data privacy, digital platforms, customer communication, and workplace culture.
The speaker encouraged students to create businesses that not only generate profit but also contribute positively to society. He stressed that ethical decision-making plays a major role in sustainable business growth and investor confidence. Real-time examples and practical situations were discussed to help students understand how legal and ethical mistakes can affect a company’s reputation and success.
The session concluded with an interactive discussion where students actively participated and clarified their doubts related to entrepreneurship and start-up development. The interaction made the session more informative and engaging for the participants.
The program received strong support from Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D, Principal, and Prof. Sudarshan K, Head of the Department, ISE and CSD. The event was successfully coordinated by Prof. Aparna N and Prof. K Vaishnavi Rao, with the support from Prof. Sowmya, ISE Staff Advisor, and Prof. Archana D, CSD Staff Advisor.
