A Self driven activity titled “Battle of Brackets” was organized on 29th December 2025 by the Departments of Computer Science and Design (CSD) & Information Science and Engineering (ISE), in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) at Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru. The activity was designed as a competitive platform to promote active participation and early exposure to computational thinking.

The event focused on strengthening students’ understanding of programming logic, syntax accuracy, and structured problem-solving, particularly through challenges involving logical sequencing, bracket balancing, and analytical reasoning. Conducted in multiple rounds with increasing difficulty levels, the competition tested participants’ accuracy, speed, and logical clarity.

First-year students participated enthusiastically and displayed strong interest throughout the event. The competition encouraged critical thinking, improved confidence in tackling technical problems, and fostered a spirit of healthy competition and self-motivation. “Battle of Brackets” successfully served as a foundation-building activity for students at the beginning of their engineering journey.

The successful organization of this activity was made possible through the continued support and encouragement of Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D, Principal of Srinivas Institute of Technology, whose vision consistently promotes innovation, research, and digital excellence. Dr. Praveen Shenoy, IIC Coordinator, ensured that the program aligned effectively with the objectives of the Institution’s Innovation Council. The event also benefited from the leadership of Prof. Sudarshan K, Head of the Department of Information Science and Engineering & Computer Science Design. The whole event was coordinated by Prof. Prajwal K S, Event Coordinator, whose efforts contributed to the smooth and impactful execution of the program.
