National Technology Day
On the occasion of National Technology Day, the Institution's Innovation Council (IIC), in collaboration with ASMA (All Students Mechanical Association), Department of Mechanical Engineering, Srinivas Institute of Technology, Valachil, organized an inspiring awareness session on 11th May 2026. The event aimed to commemorate India’s technological milestones and motivate budding engineers to drive future innovations.
The session featured an insightful and engaging talk by Dr. Jithendra P. R. Nayak, Head of the Department, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. The session focused on emerging developments in the fields of Missiles, Defence Technology, and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
During the session, Dr. Jithendra explained the evolution and importance of missile technology in strengthening national security. The speaker discussed different types of missiles, their guidance systems, propulsion techniques, and the role of indigenous technologies in defence development.
The session also focused on Artificial Intelligence and its applications in various sectors such as healthcare, defence, manufacturing, transportation, robotics, and education. The Resource Person explained how AI is transforming industries through machine learning, automation, and data-driven decision-making.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of the Mechanical and Marine Engineering departments. The highly interactive session sparked thoughtful questions and vibrant discussions among the attendees.
The event was organized under the valuable guidance of Dr. Praveen Shenoy (Convenor, Institution's Innovation Council), Dr. Shankar K. S., Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, and Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D., Principal, Srinivas Institute of Technology.
The program was skilfully coordinated by Dr. Raghavendra M. J., Event Coordinator & IIC-IA, with active support from Prof. Sandesh K. S., ASMA Coordinator. Their combined efforts ensured the successful execution of the event.
