An Awareness Session on the POSH Act
The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering and Computer Science & Business Studies, Srinivas Institute of Technology, in association with the Women’s Cell organized an awareness session on “An Awareness Session on the POSH Act” on 27/04/2026 at 2:00 P.M. in the Seminar Hall. The session was delivered by Dr. Deviprabha Alva, Certified Trainer of POSH Act and Associate Professor of Commerce, St. Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru. The program began with a brief introduction, highlighting the importance of creating awareness about workplace safety and the significance of the POSH Act. The resource person explained the key provisions of the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, types of harassment, and the importance of maintaining a safe and respectful environment. She also elaborated on the role of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) and the procedures for reporting and addressing complaints. The session was informative and interactive, enabling students to understand their rights and responsibilities in both academic and professional environments.
To create awareness among students about the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, to educate them on identifying inappropriate behavior, and to promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment within the institution.
The session enhanced students’ understanding of workplace ethics and safety, increased awareness about legal rights and grievance mechanisms, and encouraged them to contribute towards building a respectful and secure environment.
