Algorithmic Problem Solving and Innovation Coding Challenge
The Department of MCA in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of Srinivas Institute of Technology, Valachil, Mangaluru, organized an “Algorithmic Problem Solving and Innovation Coding Challenge” on 20th February 2026 at the Ethnotech Lab from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
The objective of the event was to enhance students’ algorithmic thinking, logical reasoning, and innovative problem-solving abilities through a structured coding challenge. The activity aimed to encourage students to apply computational thinking and programming concepts to solve real-world problems efficiently.
The coding challenge was designed in multiple rounds to evaluate participants’ analytical and programming skills. The first round consisted of a set of multiple-choice questions focusing on programming concepts, algorithms, and logical reasoning. This round tested the participants’ fundamental understanding of coding principles and computational logic.
The second round involved debugging tasks, where participants were required to analyze given programs and identify errors in the code. This round helped students strengthen their understanding of program structure, error detection, and logical correction of code.
The final round was a hands-on coding round, where shortlisted participants solved algorithmic programming problems using an online coding platform. The participants implemented efficient algorithms and demonstrated their ability to develop optimized solutions within a limited time.
The event provided a valuable platform for students to enhance their coding proficiency, analytical thinking, and innovative approach to algorithm design. It also encouraged students to explore problem-solving techniques widely used in software development and competitive programming. Such activities align with the objectives of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) in fostering innovation, creativity, and technical skill development among students.
The event was successfully coordinated by Prof. Swapnil Pai (Department IIC Coordinator) along with Dr. Praveen Shenoy (IIC Coordinator) and the support of faculty members of the Department of MCA.The students actively participated in the coding challenge and appreciated the opportunity to test their programming skills in a competitive and learning-oriented environment. The activity successfully promoted innovation, computational thinking, and practical problem-solving skills among the participants.
The program concluded with appreciation for all participants and organizers for making the event successful. The activity effectively contributed to strengthening students’ algorithmic thinking and programming competence, which are essential for innovation and technological advancement.
