Green Concepts and Green Education
The Srinivas School of Architecture, Valachil, hosted the launch of the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) Student Chapter on 10th October, 2025 marking a significant milestone in fostering sustainability and environmental consciousness among aspiring architects.The event began with a prayer, followed by the symbolic watering of a plant by the dignitaries, representing growth, learning, and ecological responsibility.
Ar. Vasudev Shet, Head of the Department, SSA, welcomed the gathering and emphasized the need for architects to lead the way in creating sustainable and resilient environments.Dr. Srinivasa Mayya D, Principal, Srinivas Institute of Technology, addressed the audience and encouraged students to actively participate in green initiatives and undertake projects that promote sustainability.
Ar. Venkatesh Pai, Chairman of IGBC Mangalore Chapter, delivered an inspiring address on the importance of integrating green building principles into architectural education and practice. He officially launched the IGBC Student Chapter at Srinivas School of Architecture and presented the Launch Certificate to the institution, marking the beginning of a new chapter in sustainability-focused learning.Following the launch, Ms. Rekha Mavulati, Senior Counsellor, IGBC, delivered a virtual presentation on “Green Concepts and Green Education”, providing deep insights into sustainable design philosophies and green certification systems.
The program was coordinated by Ar. Ramdas Prabhu, Assistant Professor, and Er. Vijayalaxmi Kedilaya B, Assistant Professor, Srinivas School of Architecture, SIT.
