From Design to Prototype: Innovate and Build
The Department of Mechanical Engineering of Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangalore, organized a two-day workshop titled “From Design to Prototype: Innovate and Build” on 22nd August 2025, under the banner of the All Students Mechanical Association (ASMA), in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC). The workshop aimed to introduce participants to the concepts, tools, and applications of additive manufacturing (3D printing) and to provide them with hands-on experience in transforming design ideas into working prototypes.
The event was presided over by Dr. Shankar K. S., Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department. In his presidential address, he highlighted the importance of additive manufacturing in the present era and emphasized that workshops of this nature bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, enabling students to transform their ideas into tangible outcomes. He further remarked that such initiatives play a vital role in igniting creativity, nurturing problem-solving skills, and preparing students to meet the challenges of industry and research. On behalf of the department, he extended his sincere gratitude to the resource persons, coordinators, and organizing team for their dedicated efforts in making the workshop a grand success.
