Proteus for Innovation: Startup Competition to Boost Embedded Skills
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), YUKTI, and STEADY, organized an innovative program titled “Proteus for Innovation: Startup Competition to Boost Embedded Skills” on 23rd August 2025.
The event aimed to nurture practical innovation and hardware-software co-design skills among undergraduate students, enabling them to transform ideas into prototype-level startup ventures. The hands-on session, conducted by Assistant Professor Colin David Karat, Department of ECE and co-ordinated by Dr. Soorya Krishna and Prof. Flavita Janice Pinto, introduced Proteus CAD tools and real-time implementation on AVR microcontrollers (ATmega16/32).
The session concluded with the announcement of a problem statement for a startup-oriented embedded design competition, with a follow-up event scheduled later. The initiative effectively bridged academic learning, industry-ready skills, and entrepreneurial mindset, empowering students to move from simulation to hardware realization—an essential step toward embedded product innovation and startup culture.
