Lean Start-Up & Minimum Viable Product/Business
The Department of Marine Engineering at Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru, in association with the Institutions Innovation Council (IIC), Incubation and Start-Up Cell, and AIMES, organized a session on “Lean Start-Up & Minimum Viable Product/Business” on 23rd August 2025. The session was led by Prof. Vivek V Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Marine Engineering, who served as the resource person.
Prof. Vivek V Kumar provided insightful perspectives on the principles of lean start-up methodology and the significance of developing a minimum viable product (MVP) in today’s entrepreneurial landscape. He explained how the lean start-up approach enables innovators to minimize risks, optimize resources, and validate business ideas through customer feedback at early stages. He also highlighted the iterative process of building, measuring, and learning, which helps entrepreneurs refine their business models effectively. Emphasizing the role of MVPs, he demonstrated how they act as essential tools for testing market demand and achieving faster adaptability to customer needs.
The event was coordinated by Prof. Chandra Jogi, IIC Event Coordinator, Prof. Vivek V Kumar, AIMES Coordinator, and Dr. Praveen Shenoy IIC Coordinator, along with support from faculty members of the Incubation and Start-Up Cell. This session witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty, reflecting the institute’s commitment to nurturing entrepreneurial talent. The programme was further encouraged by the presence of Dr. Lokesh V, Head of the Department of Marine Engineering, and Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D, Principal of the Institute.
