Maritime Start-Up Challenge
me Start-Up Challenge
The Department of Marine Engineering at Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru, in association with AIMES, IIC, YUKTI Cell, and the Start-Up Cell, organized a two-day event titled “Maritime Start-Up Challenge” on 25th and 26th August 2025.
The event aimed to foster entrepreneurial thinking among students and encourage innovative solutions tailored to the maritime sector. It provided a vibrant platform for students to conceptualize and present start-up ideas addressing real-world challenges in the marine industry. On the first day, 7th-semester students showcased their advanced knowledge and innovative proposals, while the second day highlighted the creativity and potential of the 5th-semester students, who presented well-researched and forward-looking business models. The challenge served as an effective bridge between academic learning and entrepreneurial application, motivating students to think critically about the future of maritime technologies and their role as innovators.
The programme was organized under the guidance of Prof. Vivek V Kumar (AIMES/YUKTI Coordinator) and Dr. Praveen Shenoy (IIC Coordinator), with strong support from Dr. Lokesh V, Head of the Department of Marine Engineering, and Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D, Principal of the Institute.
