Oktoberfest of Opportunities – Study, Live, Thrive in Germany
The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangalore, under the banner of the All Students Mechanical Association (ASMA), organized a session titled “Oktoberfest of Opportunities – Study, Live, Thrive in Germany” delivered by Ms. Rayee Niharika Rao, consultant at Varaha German Consultancy on 30th August, through WebEx Platform. The event was specially designed for final-year undergraduate and postgraduate students who aspire to pursue higher education and career opportunities in Germany.
The primary objective of the program was to provide students with accurate information about the academic landscape, cultural aspects, and professional prospects in Germany. Ms. Rao began the session by sharing her personal and academic experiences, offering valuable insights into why Germany has become one of the most preferred global destinations for higher education. She elaborated on the German higher education system, highlighting the advantages of studying at public universities, availability of tuition-free programs, and the wide range of scholarships offered to international students.
The speaker also focused on the aspects of living in Germany, including accommodation, cost of living, cultural diversity, and social integration, which are crucial for students adapting to a new environment. Furthermore, she discussed career opportunities for international students, internship pathways, research prospects, and the vibrant startup ecosystem in Germany, particularly in the fields of engineering, technology, and innovation. An interactive Q&A session allowed students to clarify doubts and gain personalized advice regarding their study and career aspirations.
In her concluding remarks, Ms. Rao encouraged students to view Germany not just as an academic destination but also as a land of opportunities to build careers, explore entrepreneurial ventures, and experience cultural enrichment. The event proved highly beneficial, equipping participants with actionable guidance and motivating them to take confident steps toward pursuing their future abroad.
