From Angels to VCs: Funding Journey
A session on “From Angels to VCs: Funding Journey” was conducted on 28th August 2025. The event was organized by Prof. Clitus D’Souza, Assistant Professor, Department of ECE and was attended by students of 3rd and 4th year Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE). The session lasted for two hours and saw the enthusiastic participation of students and faculty members, Dr. Soorya Krishna K, HOD Department of ECE graced the event.
Prof. Steven Tellis provided a detailed explanation of the differences between angel investors and venture capitalists, emphasizing their roles, investment strategies, and involvement in Startup growth. He discussed who should approach angel investors, the situations where venture capitalists become essential, and the scope of each funding option for entrepreneurs.
The speaker also highlighted the pros and cons of venture capital funding and shared examples of well-known angel investors and venture capital firms. He stressed the importance of understanding when and how to approach different funding sources to effectively launch and scale startups.
The session lasted for one and a half hours and proved to be highly informative and insightful, equipping students with practical knowledge on entrepreneurship, innovation, and Startup funding strategies. Total of 74 students participated in the event.
