The Department of Marine Engineering of Srinivas Institute of Technology, organized the Inaugural Function of AIMES (Association of Integrated Marine Engineering Students) on 25th September 2025. Mr. Karthik H. K., Marine Technical & Distribution Sales Engineer at Servocean Marine & Offshore Services Group (F.Z.C.), served as the chief guest, with Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D, Principal of Srinivas Institute of Technology, presiding over the function.

In his address, Mr. Karthik emphasized the need for marine engineers to adapt to the rapidly evolving industry, where Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning are reshaping the landscape. He also highlighted the diverse shore-based opportunities available for young marine engineers to explore.

Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D, in his presidential remarks, underlined the importance of AIMES in promoting technical activities. He encouraged students to embrace discipline, teamwork, and leadership through their participation in the association’s initiatives.

Dr. Lokesh V, Head of the Department of Marine Engineering, spoke about the vital role of seafarers in society. He motivated students to take ownership of the association by organizing programs themselves and urged each student to contribute by conducting at least one event under the AIMES banner.

Prof. Vivek V. Kumar, AIMES Coordinator, presented the plan of activities for the academic year and formally inducted the new office bearers and members of the association.

The inaugural event also featured an invocation by Ms. Devayani, while Ms. Prakruthi compered the program with confidence and grace. Mr. Shravan extended a warm welcome to the gathering, and Ms. Sanjana S. Kotian delivered the vote of thanks. The ceremony marked a promising start for AIMES, setting the tone for a year of innovation, teamwork, and professional growth.
