Patent-search-and-intellectual-property-rights-(IPR)

A session on 'Patent search and intellectual property rights (IPR)' was held on December 28, 2022, for Information Science and Engineering final- and pre-final-year students at Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru. The session was organised by the Association of Information Science and Engineering (AISE) in collaboration with the IPR cell and IIC.Prof. Vivek V. Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Marine Engineering, Srinivas Institute of Technology, Valachil, Mangaluru, served as the session's resource person. The significance of IPR was discussed with the students, along with its many terms, including copyrights, patents, geographical indications, and trademarks, among others. Other forms of rights are also included, such as trade secret protection and rights against unfair competition. The term 'intellectual property' refers to a variety of creations, including literary and artistic works as well as some discoveries, inventions, words, phrases, symbols, and designs. Following a thorough understanding of the IPR regulations, participants conducted a hands-on search for prior art on their own ideas using Google Patents and the Indian patent database. This program was supported by our beloved principal Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D. The program was successfully completed with the help of Prof. Sudarshan K, Head of the Department, IS&E, Prof. Nagaraja Hebbar N, Head of the Department, AI-DS. This event is coordinated by Prof. Sowmya, Staff Advisor of AISE.
