Department Of Computer Science And Engineering

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering was established in year 2006. The Department offers B.E (CSE) undergraduate program, and a postgraduate program M.Tech(CSE) .

Department has MoUs for Research, Internship and training with various companies and government agencies. Students are encouraged to take up interdisciplinary research and project work in various domains of computer science like computer vision,Machine learning, Data Mining, Networking, high performance computing etc. and are placed in reputed companies.

Department of Computer Science & Engineering has experienced and dedicated teaching faculty members with various specializations in computer science. The faculty members aim at delivering top class education blending their rich research experience with classroom teaching.

The Department has state-of-the-art infrastructure and computing equipment supported by high speed Ethernet and wireless networks. Various student organisations like Computer Society of India (CSI) student Chapter, ISTE Student Chapter are active throughout the year.

The intake for undergraduate program is 120 students and 18 for M.Tech(CSE) .The Department has a comprehensive curriculum on topics related to all aspects of Computer Hardware and Software with an emphasis on practical learning. The course structure is in line with latest advances in technology which equip the students with the latest developments in Computer Science and Engineering.

The Department has an excellent placement track record where in various companies offer attractive salary packages. Major recruiters are Infosys Technologies, TCS, Global Edge, Wipro, I-Wave, SLK software etc. Internship opportunities are provided for final year and pre-final year students to carry out projects.

Department student association

The Association of Computer Science and Engineering Educatee (ASCEE) is the technical association of the Department. It was established in the year 2007. The activities are guided by faculty members and are executed by students which provide opportunity to all the students of the department to conduct various technical and social events, helping them share and gain ideas, experience and knowledge from their peers.

The technical events comprise of several hands on workshops such as Web Development, Developing Database Applications , Ethical Hacking, technical quiz, programming contests etc.

The association organises outreach programs, social sensitisation programs for the benefit of public.

The Alumni contribute to this forum by guiding their juniors on academics, placement and career. This association provides opportunity for the students to enhance their  leadership and  technical skills.

Computer Society of India (CSI) Student Chapter

CSI student branch of Srinivas Institute of Technology was established in 2011-12 with an objective to facilitate research, knowledge sharing and career enhancement for the students. It is a platform for exploring   latest Technologies.

It aims to enhance the technical activities of budding Engineers and provide guidance for better beginnings.

CSI Student chapter arranges various activities like hands on Workshops, seminars, Technical Talks conducted by industry experts.

Skill development

The department offers Vocational Education Training (VET) classes which provides job focused training that blends academic & technical instructions to prepare graduates for direct entry into the workforce. The mission of such programs is to prepare students for future career success by providing a blend of technical & conceptual training alongside hands-on experience in specific fields such as PC Assembly & Laptop troubleshooting, Router configuration & Networking, C Puzzles, Java Programming, Mobile Application & development, Internet of Things  and many more..

Programme Educational Objectives (PEO):

Programme Specific Objectives (PSO):

  1. Programming and software Development skills: Ability to acquire programming efficiency to analyze, design and develop optimal solutions, apply standard practices in software project development to deliver quality software product.
  2. Computer Science Specific Skills: Ability to formulate, simulate and use knowledge in various domains like data engineering, image processing and information and network security, artificial intelligence etc., and provide solutions to new ideas and innovations.

Programme outcome (PO):

  1. Engineering Knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals and an engineering specialization for the solution of complex engineering problems.
  2. Problem Analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature and analyse complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences and engineering sciences.
  3. Design/Development of Solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety and the cultural, societal and environmental considerations.
  4. Conduct Investigations of Complex Problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
  5. Modern Tool Usage: Create, select and apply appropriate techniques, resources and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modelling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
  6. The Engineer and Society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.

Facilities

The department has10 computer laboratories with 350 computer terminals connected to Windows 2003/ Linux servers. All the necessary software’s required to carry out regular laboratory work and project work are available in the department. These facilities are exclusively for undergraduate and Post graduate students of Computer Science. 10Mbps leased line connectivity for Internet access is also available.

The Computer laboratories are networked with three servers with configurations: IBM X3 250 M3(4252) Intel® Xeon® X3430 series (quad-core) 2.4 GHz/14 MB ,DDR3, 2X500GB HDD

The Department through its well developed infrastructure and a team of experienced faculty exposes the students to Programming Techniques, the Design and Analysis of Algorithms and basic requirements of Software Analysis, Design and Applications and also in R&D activities.

Projects

Final and pre final year students come out with various types of innovative projects and some of the final projects are being sponsored by the Karnataka State Council for Science & Technology (KSCST), Bangalore & Motorola Corporation. Few of them won state level best project awards.

The department has well-qualified and experienced teaching staff, who strive for excellence with 100% academic conformance, ably supported by sufficient number of technical support staff.
