
Heritage Visit under Indian Knowledge System (IKS) – ECE Department
On the occasion of a heritage visit under the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) subject, students of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru, visited Belur, Halebidu, Manjarabad Fort, and Sakleshpur. The visit was organized to promote awareness of India’s rich cultural and architectural legacy, and to help students experience firsthand the historical significance of these iconic sites. At Belur and Halebidu, students witnessed the intricate stone carvings and temple architecture of the Hoysala dynasty, reflecting advanced knowledge of art, geometry, and cultural storytelling. The visit to Manjarabad Fort showcased strategic military architecture with its unique star-shaped design and elevated positioning, offering insight into the engineering and tactical planning of the past. In Sakleshpur, students explored the natural beauty and learned about traditional practices harmonizing with the environment. The heritage visit successfully deepened students’ understanding of Indian heritage, encouraged appreciation for traditional knowledge systems, and fostered a sense of pride in the country’s cultural and historical achievements.
